Help is Here

Monday morning after the holiday hit me like a ton of bricks. In my opinion my alarm went off too early and I did not want to get out of my cozy bed. This break is what I needed, time with my family as well as Myke, ate great food, and was cold in the month of November. However there were some things gnawing at me. I’m still saddend over not having our pup in our home anymore, I’ve been stressed about work and other things that have been going on and I can tell it was taking a toll on not only my body but my mind. I’ve been a lot more quiet around people just because I don’t know what to say, but when asked how I’m doing I respond with a great because I don’t want them to really know.

Tuesday morning I woke up and read my devotional from Joyce Meyer called Hearing from God Each Morning. It’s a free devotional that you can download on the Bible app. Joyce Meyer also has a book with the same title, but this is just a 14 day plan. The title read “Help is Here”. The reading mentioned that God created us to seek His help in not only times of sadness and struggle but in places of happiness and thankfulness. He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in us and to help us. Many Christians believe that the gifts of the spirit are dead, like tongues and prophecy, but I can tell you first hand that they are not. God is here reaching for you, but He also gave us something else: free will. We can reject Him or follow Him, it’s that simple. I choose to follow Him and the plan that He has set forth for me-whatever the plan is going to lead me, I know it is His path and not my own.  The part the struck me the most in the whole passage was at the very end Joyce said: “Your worst day with God will be better than your best day without Him.” It’s true. With everything that is going on, I can say that God has never let me down. Is relationship with God frustrating at time? Yes, but aren’t the best relationships that way?

Help is here, God is here. It’s a struggle to remember on most days, but it is a comfort nonetheless.
